Investigating a Novel Product for Algae Remediation and Repurposing
Fall 2022

Gore Logo.png

Collaborated with a five-member project team to determine market demand for a novel textile product designed by W.L. Gore to clean harmful algae blooms (HAB) and facilitate harvest of algae for repurposing. Performed an industry outreach campaign in which 20 key opinion leaders in the algae cleanup and algae-based product industries were consulted. Final deliverables included a comprehensive literature review, market analysis, and final recommendations. It was ultimately determined that industry and market conditions do not favor Gore's move into this segment. However, biopolymers were identified as a segment with the most promise should they move forward.
